Prince Harry to visit Nottingham next week

Prince Harry is making an official visit to Nottingham next week for a day focused on young people and city communities.

Kensington Palace has announced the Prince will be in town next Wednesday, October 26, opening Nottingham’s new police station at Byron House.

He will also be visiting the National Ice Centre as well as a recording studio at the Full Effect project, in St Ann’s.

It is the latest of several visits the Prince has made to Nottingham, both announced and unannounced, to work with city charities and projects.

Full Effect was created out of a long relationship the 32-year-old Royal has with parts of the city.

Kensington Palace tweeted: “The Prince asked his Foundation to launch the project after a visit to the studio in 2013. He has returned many times to see the project progress.”

Full Effect is a two-part programme, supporting children from primary schools in St Ann’s and teenagers to deter them from becoming involved in youth violence and gangs.

As part of the project, young people are trained in media skills and produce broadcast-quality films, including a 30-minute film called Guillemot, the premiere of which the Prince attended at the Cornerhouse cinema in February 2015

He will also visit the National Ice Centre, where the Coach Core programme runs sporting apprenticeships, also supported by the Royal Foundation.

His other appointment will involve officially opening the new Central Police Station, inside Byron House on Maid Marian Way.
