Two toilets in Nottingham have been recognised in the national Loo of the Year awards.

The toilets were judged on their level of hygiene, cleanliness, fixtures and fittings, air quality and décor.

The inspections took place during unannounced visits from an independent Loo of the Year awards inspector, with the objective of encouraging the highest possible standards.

All entries received a grading from bronze, to silver, gold or platinum.

The two winners of the ‘gold’ grade locally were in the McDonalds restaurants at Castle Marina and Chilwell.

The awards also run a Hall of Fame which displays the names of each annual Overall Trophy winner since the awards commenced in 1987.
