Picture released in search for man who hurled abuse at train enthusiast, 12

Police are looking for a man who crossed a railway line to shout abuse at a 12-year-old train enthusiast.

The boy was approached at Worksop Station by a man who stood next to the level crossing barrier to swear at him.

British Transport Police are investigating both the abuse and the way he crossed the tracks, potentially putting himself and train passengers at risk.

PC Emma Williamson said: “This must have been a very upsetting experience for the young boy who was simply on a day out with his dad enjoying his hobby.”

It happened at 6.45pm on Friday, March 25.

PC Williamson added: “Trespassing on the tracks and misusing level crossings in this way is extremely dangerous, he was very lucky a train wasn’t coming or the outcome would have been unthinkable.”

The man walked back across the tracks and walked up onto platform one and out of sight after the incident.

Police now want to identify the man in the picture above.

Anyone with information is asked to call 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016 quoting reference 143 of March 25.
