Nottingham Forest manager Philippe Montanier is awaiting news of the fitness of Britt Assombalonga ahead of the Red’s trip to Millwall tomorrow evening.

The Reds boss confirmed that Assombalonga’s injury is not to do with his troubled knee after he scored and was then substituted in the first half of Forest’s 4-3 win over Wigan.

Montanier also wants to see Forest tighten up defensively after conceding three at home to the Latics on Saturday.

It’s most important for him to play

Speaking about Britt Assombalonga, Montanier said: “We are waiting for news on the injury as he’s going for a scan today.

“I hope it’s not serious because Britt is important for the club and the squad.

“For him, it’s most important for him to play games.”

We have to learn to play deeper as a unit more often

Philippe Montanier praised the team’s attack in their 4-3 win over Wigan at the weekend but wants the team to be sharper in defence.

He said: “We have to learn to play deeper as a unit more often, especially when we are leading 1-0 or 2-1; we have to learn and work on this.”

“I think sometimes we press higher and it can be good.

“It means we can win the ball higher up the pitch and then we can attack and score.”
