Trent Street is due to be closed in September as redevelopment work on Station Street continues.

The road will be closed on Sunday September 4 and some temporary traffic measures will be put in place on Station Street on Sunday September 11 to add ‘finishing touches’ to the work.

This is because road markings need to be removed and new lining laid down, according to Nottingham City Council.

These final pieces of work should not take long

Portfolio Holder for Jobs, Growth and Transport Councillor Nick McDonald said: “These final pieces of work should not take long and will bring together the final bits of work to make Station Street a welcoming gateway to the city.

“This is in preparation for the developments around the Broadmarsh area and other exciting developments across the city.

“These works are an essential part of the new area to ensure Station Street is the modern, safe and welcoming area we want it to be.”

Taxis will be able to pick up passengers from Station Street on Sunday 4 September and the road closure on Station Street at its junction with London Road will be temporarily removed to allow access to the rank on Station Street.

After the works have been completed, the road closure at London Road and Station Street will be reinstated and the taxi ranks moved back onto Trent Street.

On Sunday 11 September, similar works will be carried out on Station Street; although there will not be a road closure for these works.

There will be moving temporary traffic management arrangements in place but access for taxis ranking on Trent Street will not be affected.

Nottingham Forest fans travelling to Villa Park by train on Sunday September 11 are being urged to allow for more time to get to the train station.
