A Nottinghamshire councillor and former parliamentary candidate has been charged with a number of child sex offences.

Jason Zadrozny, a county and district councillor, has been charged with three counts of rape of a male under the age of 16, and four counts of indecent assault on a boy under the age of 16.

The offences are said to have happened between September 2 2003 and April 30 2004.

He has also been charged with three counts of engaging in sexual activity with a boy aged 13 to 15 between May 1 2004 and September 30 2006.

Mr Zadrozny, 35, denies the allegations.

He is Nottinghamshire County Councillor for Ashfield North and is an Ashfield Independents Larwood Ward member for Ashfield District Council.

He was arrested in March 2015 as he prepared to stand again for the Liberal Democrats in Ashfield at the May 7 2015 General Election. He withdrew from the race and was suspended by the party.

Mr Zadrozny has been bailed to appear at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on March 30.
