Roads closed after fire tears through disused factory in New Basford

Fire crews have tackled a large fire at a disused factory in New Basford.

The blaze broke out at around 4am at the building on Beech Avenue and people living in the area were advised to stay indoors during the blaze.

Several roads are closed around the area and an investigation is under way into the cause of the fire.

No-one was hurt and at this stage investigators are not treating the incident as suspicious.

Around eight fire engines and 40 firefighters were on the scene at the height of the fire, which was brought under control by around 6am.

It is the second serious fire in the area in three months after a clothing factory on High Church Street was destroyed by a blaze in July.
