16-year-old Mansfield boy bitten in face by stranger’s dog

A 16-year-old boy has been bitten in the face by a stranger’s dog in Mansfield.

Notts Police are appealing for information after the boy was attacked by the Staffordshire bull terrier and taken to King’s Mill Hospital.

The incident happened on Dunwoody Close in Mansfield on Saturday, November 26. Police say the dog owner “walked away from the scene without offering help or leaving details”.

A Notts Police spokesman said: “Fortunately the boy’s injuries were minor but could quite clearly have been serious.”

Officers are appealing for help tracing the dog owner. He is described as a white man, well-built and in his 50s, between 5ft 10ins to 6ft 1ins-tall, with short greying hair and stubble on his face.

He was wearing walking gear, including a dark blue Berghaus fleece and dark brown Gore-Tex trousers.

The dog was described as a fat black Staffordshire bull terrier with grey patches.
