A 78-year-old woman suffered a broken arm and ribs after being robbed

A 78-year-old woman has suffered a broken arm and ribs after she was robbed in Sneinton.

The victim was approached from behind after she entered tried to enter a block of flats off Newark Street at around 6.15pm on Wednesday (July 5).

The male suspect pulled her handbag, dragging her to the floor and then continued to pull at the bag causing the woman to break her arm.

She also suffered broken ribs and needed stitches to a wound on her left elbow and suffered grazing to her elbow and wrist.

The suspect ran off with the bag which contained a purse with her bank cards, bus pass, £30 cash, mobile phone and glasses.

The bag was later recovered in an alleyway but the items inside have not yet been recovered.

The suspect, who was chased by a member of the public, is described as being 15-18-years-old, of mixed race, about 5ft 8ins tall and of stocky build.

He has short afro hair in tight curls and Notts Police officers believe he may have been wearing a school blazer with blue around the collar and a blue shirt or t-shirt.
