A cyclist left a mum yelling for help after he knocked over her young son and left him bleeding in the middle of a busy highstreet.
Eight-year-old Kyle Farnsworth was hit by a mountain bike whilst he bent down to tie his shoe lace and had to be taken to hospital to have the gashes in his head glued back together.
The cyclist did not stop and was heard swearing at the family.
Police are now looking for the man – who was riding a silver and black bike – and are also examining CCTV footage of the incident, in Front Street on Sunday afternoon.
Mum of five, Sarah Farnsworth has been left horrified by the incident that took place.
She said: “We had been shopping to fetch Kyle some new school shoes. Kyle bent down to tie his shoe lace and the next thing we knew he had been knocked over and was left screaming on the floor.”
“There was no one around and I was screaming for help. We were all crying when two ladies came over to help us. There was blood everywhere and I didn’t know what to do.”
An ambulance was called to the scene and tended to the 8-year-old’s injuries.
The 43-year-old mum says that her son has been left traumatised.
“I can’t believe that the person just rode off and Kyle was just screaming on the floor. Who would do that? They shouldn’t be able to do that to an innocent 8-year-old boy.”

As a result of the incident Nottinghamshire County Council is calling for cyclists to take more care when riding in pedestrianised areas.
Suzanne Heydon, group manager for highway safety at the authority, said: “Although there are no restrictions on cyclists using Front Street, they need to use their common sense and ride according to the conditions.
“This will undoubtedly mean slowing down and even dismounting in areas where there are lots of pedestrians.”
Nottinghamshire Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the events that took place and are being urged to call 101.
