8-year-old Nottingham fundraiser for the British Heart Foundation

A Nottingham boy is raising money for the British heart foundation by selling his own homemade magnets.

Eight year old Jayden Lee Mulhall came up with the idea after seeing a British Heat Foundation advert featuring children with heart conditions and wanted to help.

The magnets are designed by Jayden and made at home by his mum, Ann Mulhull and his auntie.

He sells them from a makeshift stall outside his house on Foxhall Road, Forest Fields and all the profits go to the British Heart Foundation.

According for the British Heart Foundation 300 people die a year from coronary heart disease in Nottingham and 5,700 people nationally.

Proud mum Mrs Mulhull said that the fund raising scheme is in memory of Jayden’s great grandfather, who died 6 months ago and his great grandmother who died when Jayden was just six months old.

Both deaths were due to heart related illnesses and she hopes that it will spread awareness of heart disease.

The boy’s charitable idea has been embraced by the community and Jayden’s magnets can be found at the British Heart Foundation shop in the city centre, his local corner shop as well as a shop in Bulwell.

“Everybody has been so supportive with him, the community round here have been brilliant everybody has supported and helped him to raise as much as he can,” said Mrs Mulhull.

Mrs Mulhull said that Jayden is always coming up with unusual ideas like this.

“I am really proud of him and my granddad is looking down on him and would be absolutely amazed with him,” she said.
