A1 re-opens following fatal six vehicle crash which saw air ambulance deployed

The A1 has fully re-opened this morning following a fatal six vehicle crash on the road near Newark.

A 52-year-old man, who was the driver of one of the vehicles, died following the collision.

Another man – the driver of one of the lorries – was taken to the QMC by air ambulance for treatment for his injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

A woman was also taken to hospital by ambulance and three other men were treated for their injuries at the scene.

Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening or life altering.

The incident happened at around 7.55am yesterday (Thursday March 9) morning on the northbound carriageway between the A46 and the B6326 junction.

Police officers are appealing for any eye witnesses to the collision to contact them as well as anyone who was travelling on the A1 southbound at the time who happened to have a dash cam that captured the crash.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident 137 of March 9 2017.
