The A46 in Nottinghamshire has re-opened towards Newark after it was blocked by two crashes in the space of 35 minutes.
Notts Police said emergency crews were called to a crash between a Toyota and a Mercedes near Elston at around 8.30am.
The driver of the Toyota was taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening and the northbound side of the road was shut while the incident was cleared.
As 999 crews were clearing the scene at around 9.05am a second crash was reported less than two miles south close to Flintham.

A Notts Police spokesman confirmed the road had re-opened around 10am and traffic is now flowing normally.
