Appeal launched after attempted robbery in Sutton-in-Ashfield

A police appeal has been launched after a man tried and failed to rob a Sutton-in-Ashfield off-licence with a firearm.

The man walked into the Buttar’s Off-Licence on Kirkby Road at around 6pm on Sunday and threatened staff with what is believed to be a firearm.

Despite demanding cash, the offender left the premises on foot empty-handed and no one was injured.

The man has been described as white, around 5ft 6ins to 5ft 7ins tall, of slim to medium build and about 25 years of age.

He was wearing a dark hooded top and also wore a red and white Nottingham Forest scarf to cover the lower part of his face.
