Part of Gedling Country Park has been cordoned off after a body was found on Saturday morning.
The discovery was made at around 9.20am.
A Notts Police spokesman said: “The death is currently being treated as unexplained and an investigation to identify the body and establish the circumstances surrounding the discovery has begun.”
Officers did not release an estimated age of the person or whether the body was that of a man or woman.
Anyone with information is asked to call Notts Police on 101, quoting incident number 229 of February 27.
