Boots has announced it’s cutting 700 jobs across the country and more than half of that will be from its Nottingham headquarters.

The restructure comes after the US multinational company, Walgreens bought Boots last year, the new plan will effect over 400 support and administrative staff within its headquarters in Beeston, where over 3000 people currently work.

The President of Boots, Simon Roberts said: “Together with my leadership team, I believe this plan will make Boots even better for our customers and drive sustainable future growth.

We also remain fully committed to our presence in Nottingham, which has been the home of Boots since the very beginning.

Boots are handing out these redundancies as they say it will allow them to  focus on different factors within the business including: reinventing customer offer, focused customer engagement, investing in technology and simplifying support operations.

The company hopes that this new plan will help the business grow in the future.
