Up to 170 new jobs are being created in Bulwell by a new business centre.
The Northgate Public Service office officially opened today at the Apollo 26 Industrial Park on Charles Way.
Bosses hope it could be worth more than £50m to the local economy over the next seven years.
Around 70 people, many of whom were unemployed until recently, have already found work there, with dozens more positions to be filled in future.
The centre operates as a business hub that’s in partnership with Nottingham City Council.
It provides the authority, police and the NHS with the digitisation of important documents.
Nottingham City Council deputy leader, councillor Graham Chapman, said: “This is a great shot in the arm for the local economy. It means more money in the local economy, more jobs and more apprenticeships in a big organisation with opportunities for advancement.”
The site expects to employ 100 members of staff by Christmas – and up to 170 by the end of next year.
When advertising for the jobs, the council and Northgate Public Services agreed to focus on appealing to people who had been long-term unemployed.
Charmaine Chulan was out of work for six years before finding work at the hub.
She said: “I’d been to college for four years and studied beauty therapy and had a daughter.”
“It took me a long while to get a job – now that I have a job, there’s so much more I can do with my daughter, so many fun things.”
