A Notts care home has admitted safety breaches over the death of a resident who fell down a flight of fire escape stairs.

George Chicken, 76, died in hospital after he was injured in the fall at Rose Court Lodge in Mansfield in November 2012.

Embrace All Ltd admitted failing to ensure the safety of residents.

The home manager Amanda Dean, of Ambergate, Derbyshire, also admitted failing to take reasonable care of residents.

The home, on Sutton Road in the town, provides residential and dementia care for older people.

Ms Dean and the company had previously denied the allegations but on Thursday morning both changed their pleas and brought a trial to an end at Nottingham Crown Court.

Sentencing has been adjourned until September 8.
