Notts County announce the signing of left back, Rhys Sharpe on a free transfer.
The 20-year-old, who had been released by Derby County at the end of last season, is Riacrdo Moniz’s second new signing at the close of the season.
The Nottingham born full-back, failed to make a single first team appearance for the Rams but did feature on loan for promoted Shrewsbury Town at the back end of last season.
The 20-year-old, who can also play on the wing, has put pen-to-paper on a two year deal.
Notts County FC official statement.
Sharpe joins former Exeter City defender, Scot Bennett as the other new signing at Meadow Lane, as County attempt to bounce back to League 1 at the first time of asking.
As well as the two newcomers, Notts County have secured the signatures of stalwarts Roy Carroll and Alan Smith, both penning new deals for the Magpies to keep them at Meadow Lane beyond 2015.
Moniz seems keen to keep his experienced players of last season’s squad for the start of 2015/16 campaign, as well as bringing in young players such as Sharpe and Bennett.
Sharpe, a Northern Ireland under-21 international was part of Derby County’s academy from the age of 14, and left Pride Park having signed his first professional contract in April 2013.
It does not appear as if this is the last of County’s transfer activity, as fans have been encouraged to keep an eye on the official site this summer for more news.
