Alan Hardy has announced the date when his takeover of Notts County will be completed.

The businessman says contracts should ‘hopefully’ be exchanged today (December 30) and expects the deal to be officially done on Monday, January 9.

Responding to questions from fans on Twitter, Hardy said: “Sorry for the delay, its complex but should have some good news tomorrow (Friday).

He added: “Contracts hopefully exchanged tomorrow and formally completed on Mon 9th Jan. Our 1st game will be Mansfield at home!! Hoping for 10,000!”

On Tuesday Hardy had said he expected progress on the deal within 24 hours after his legal and financial team returned to working on the takeover following the Christmas break.

The announcement means Hardy, who runs Nottingham company Paragon Interiors, will take control of Notts from owner Ray Trew, who announced his intention to sell earlier this year.

If he does become owner on January 9 the next game will be at home against local rivals Mansfield Town in a 1pm kick-off on Saturday, January 14.

Before that the Magpies face Cambridge United away on Monday, January 2, and Morcambe away on Saturday, January 7.
