Deadline day signing Zach Clough nearly missed transfer to Forest because of cracked phone screen

Video: Zach Clough on what happened on transfer deadline day

Deadline day signing Zach Clough almost missed his transfer to Nottingham Forest – because of a cracked phone screen!

The Reds announced the signing of Clough from Bolton over an hour after the window closed on Tuesday (January 31) for an undisclosed fee, thought to be in the region of £2.5m.

Clough came through the youth ranks at Bolton, scoring 21 times in 59 league appearances for The Trotters, including nine times this season for the promotion pushers in Sky Bet League One.

Speaking about his transfer, Clough said: “My phone was broken on the night prior to deadline day so I had to get my screen fixed; I picked it up at 3pm on deadline day and I didn’t get a call until half four!

“I had to fly over Woodhead and then down the M1 and I didn’t get there until about half nine so there was a lot going on.

“It was a big decision and I made it quickly but I think it’s the right one.”
