Dexter Blackstock impressed by Rotherham revival under Warnock

Video: Dexter Blackstock talks about Rotherham and their revival under Neil Warnock

Dexter Blackstock came off the bench to score on Monday night as Forest were edged late on by high-flying Brighton and he will be a key figure as the Reds head to Rotherham on Saturday.

The former QPR and Southampton man was understandably disappointed by the defeat to Brighton after the Reds largely dominated the clash and had got themselves back into it with his goal.

He said: “It’s hugely disappointing for us not to get at least a point when you look at that game. I thought we did enough in the second half to win the game, so to lose it was a blow.

“If we play like that every game, we will win more games than we will lose.”

Forest are in a dire run of form and have not won since beating Preston at the start of March but Blackstock said morale is not particularly low because the team have been playing well of late.

“When you’re playing well, it’s a bit easier to take because you know you’re on the right track and results will come so we’ll take the positives and hopefully we can win this one on Saturday.

Forest sit only one place above Rotherham on goal difference and both teams can go a long way to securing safety with a good result at the New York Stadium.

Neil Warnock has masterminded a revival at Rotherham since taking charge and his side will be strong favourites against a Forest side still looking for their first win under the coaching duo of Paul Williams and Andy Reid.

TEAM NEWS:

Blackstock replaced injured Jamie Ward on Monday and with the Northern Ireland international touch-and-go, Blackstock should get the nod up front.

Henri Lansbury is expected to continue in his advanced midfield role after a man-of-the-match display against the Seagulls on Monday but speedy wingers Ryan Mendes and Oliver Burke will both be hoping to join him in the starting eleven as the Reds look to mathematically guarantee Championship football for another season.

Danny Fox should continue in the heart of the Forest defence alongside Matt Mills.

There is an outside chance Britt Assombalonga may make the bench with the squad stretched.

Jamie Ward joins Michael Mancienne, Kelvin Wilson, Jack Hobbs and Matty Fryatt on the treatment table.

Former Reds Matt Derbyshire and Greg Halford are expected to be in the Millers side. They both played as Rotherham thrashed MK Dons last time out. They will be without Chris Burke, who is on loan from the City Ground and cannot play against his parent club.

The game kicks off at 3pm.
