Video: Hunter pays a visit to the Victoria Centre to promote the exhibition
Nottingham City Council is recruiting rangers to help handle a dinosaur this summer.
The volunteering role will involve supporting Hunter, the three metre-high animatronic Sinraptor, during his appearances in the Dinosaurs of China, Ground Shakers to Feathered Flyers Exhibition.
Auditions were held in March for an actor and puppeteer to operate Hunter, and the volunteers will assist Izzy the operator and give out information about the exhibition.
The exhibition is being held at Wollaton Hall and Lakeside Arts between July 1 and October 29.
The other roles up for grabs are Visitor Service Assistants, who welcome visitors and provide information, and Family Activities Assistants who encourage families to take part in free family activities.
Hunter has already visited the intu Victoria Centre, Nottingham Panthers and Notts County Football club.
There are also upcoming promotional events at Trent Bridge, the Riverside Festival and Splendour festival.
Dinosaurs of China is a world-exclusive exhibition which will feature fossils and specimens never before seen outside of Asia.
They include the world’s largest feathered dinosaur skeleton.
Cllr Dave Trimble, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture said: “I’ve spent some time with Hunter the Sinraptor and had a fantastic time watching him meet people at events round the city.
“The reaction to him is amazing and people are really excited about this stunning exhibition coming to the city.
“Don’t miss this great chance to be part of our world-exclusive and to build new skills, meeting and working with some great people.”

The role also offers the opportunity to work around the county.
Karen Lushey, volunteer co-ordinator, said: “This is a wonderful personal and professional development opportunity.
“You will get to spend a lot of time at Wollaton Hall; a spectacular Elizabethan mansion, or choose to travel round the Midlands with Hunter; and you can be part of our friendly team, indulge your love of history and be involved in a once in a lifetime exhibition.”
