Passengers planning to use East Midlands Airport today have been told to arrive at least three hours before their flight amid an international IT outage.

Flights across the world are being affected by global technology problems, leading to manual check-ins at the airport today (Friday, July 19).

No flights are expected to be cancelled throughout the day, the airport has said, but there could be delays due to check-in issues.

In a statement, the airport also urged passengers to check with their airlines for specific updates on their flights.

A spokesperson has told us: “Come three hours before your flight and expect slower check-in times because we’re doing this all manually.

“We are expecting no cancellations and all flights to go ahead as normal, but passengers should expect delays due to manual check-ins.

“Passengers should check with their airlines about specific updates on their flights.”

Airlines including Ryanair and Easyjet have confirmed they are experiencing issues with online booking and check-in, but said this can be done in-person at airports.

Some flights have taken off already at East Midlands Airport, but queues were beginning to form in the departures area just after 10am today.
