A full length runway refurbishment will take place at East Midlands airport with it being closed for two days a week through November and December.
Work starts on the first weekend in November (Saturday 5) and continues until the beginning of Christmas week (Monday December 19).
The airport will be closed to traffic from 8pm on Saturdays until 8pm on Mondays until work is completed.
This is the best way to avoid major disruption
Managing director for East Midlands airport Andy Cliffe said: “After speaking with our airlines and cargo operators, we came to this decision.
“Completing the project in this way was the best way to avoid major disruption in the lead up to Christmas.
“The timing for us is crucial and we had to look to do this in the winter season, when we naturally aren’t as busy.”
