East Midlands Chamber wants Theresa May to focus on business needs in the months ahead.
The second largest business community in the UK has been concerned by the lack of governance in the run up to Brexit and afterwards.
However the Chamber believes this can be resolved by working closely with Theresa May.
Political strength and stability is needed
The Chamber’s chief executive Scott Knowles said: “What is needed now is political strength and stability and we look forward to working with Mrs May and her new Cabinet to help them achieve both.
“We make things here in the East Midlands and we ship what we make right around the world.
“The East Midlands region is one of the largest contributors to the UK economy and it is essential that business here has the confidence to invest so that it can continue to drive growth.”
We look forward to calm and restoration of faith in politics
The Chamber’s chief executive Scott Knowles said: “There has been a clear lack of leadership in Government since the referendum was announced and an apparent collapse since.
“At the start of this week, the country was bracing itself for more months of political wrangling during the battle for leadership of the Conservative Party, which did not bode well given the frustrations of governance being put on hold for so much of this year already.
“With the leadership issue having been resolved, we look forward to a period of calm, of restoration of faith in UK politics and UK plc and some serious discussion about our place in the world as we negotiate our future with Europe.”
