Evangelos Marinakis in bid to become majority shareholder at Nottingham Forest

Olympiakos owner Evangelos Marinakis has been linked with a bid to become majority shareholder of Nottingham Forest.

The 48-year-old took over the Greek top flight side in 2010 and under his ownership they have won five titles on the bounce as well as three National Cups.

According to reports he he would become majority shareholder and leave Fawaz Al-Hasawi in charge of the day-to-day running of the club.

The two appear to have a good relationship with a number of deals agreed between the two over the years, including the signings of Djamel Abdoun, Rafik Djebbour and Matt Derbyshire.

Forest are yet to comment on the reports.

Gus Poyet, who worked in Greece last year managing AEK Athens, was thought to be on Marinakis’ and Al-Hasawi’s radar.

But Poyet has since been unveiled as the next manager of Real Betis in Spain.
