Farmyard fun for Nottingham families

Stonebridge City Farm is one of the very best in the UK and it has just won the Green Flag award.

With goats, sheep, horses, rabbits, chickens and lots more animals to see at Stonebridge City Farm it has become a popular day out with families all over Nottingham and is now one of the very best in the UK.

The Farm is among a record-breaking 1,582 parks and green spaces that will today receive a prestigious Green Flag Award – the mark of a quality park or green space.

The award recognises and rewards the best parks and green spaces across the country. A Green Flag flying overhead is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities.

Stonebridge City Farm offers visitors a chance to enjoy ‘a small slice of the countryside in the heart of the city of Nottingham’.  As well as being home to large farm and small petting animals the gardens and pond are also home to lots of wildlife, such as frogs, hedgehogs and many bird and butterfly species.

Marie Rogers, Stonebridge City Farm Manager, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive a Green Flag Award for the eighth time from Keep Britain Tidy.

“This Award recognises and highlights that people in Nottingham are benefiting from a green space of the very highest quality.

Steven Gee, Operations Co-ordinator says that the farm is a place to educate people and is extremely proud to have received this award.

“We believe that the farm is a place where families can come and enjoy the day whilst educating children in what a rural area looks like.”

The announcement of this year’s Award winners comes in the same week that thousands of people up and down the country are enjoying Love Parks Week, an annual celebration of our country’s fantastic green spaces and the community groups that bring them to life
