The blaze broke out at around 12.45pm on Sellars Wood Drive and a power cut in the area is thought to be linked to the incident.
Western Power Distribution said a number of properties were affected in the NG5 postcode.
Most had services restored shortly after the fire but the firm said an unspecified number of homes could be without power until as late as 10pm.
