Fire services attend Newton building after water leak

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue were called to pump out water at Nottingham Trent University this morning after a burst water main in the Newton building.

There is no water available in the Newton or Arkwright buildings on Goldsmith Street due to the leak which has put toilet facilities out of action and caused disruption to the canteen.

Staff have been posted around the buildings to direct people to alternative facilities, and the university is working with local services to identify and resolve the issue as soon as possible.

Classes in the building are still going ahead.

A fireman at the scene said: “There was a leak from Severn Trent, who will release a statement later today, and the crews are currently working to clear the water.”
