The roof of an £8m Nottinghamshire care home featuring a pub and cinema has been completed – the first stage of its development.

Chetwynd House Care Home will be a new 70-bed residential home in Chilwell.

The development will also include a shop and cafe on site and bosses say it is designed so residents can maintain their independence.

Nottingham care home builders Wynbrook have completed the roof structure – the process known as ‘topping out’.

The building work is expected to be fully completed in the autumn, with the opening date set for November this year.

Leicestershire residential care home company, Adept Care Homes, owns the site and runs eight care homes in the Midlands.

Wynbrook built Kiwi House care home in Derby last year and was re-appointed by Adept Care Homes to build the Nottinghamshire site.

Dave Lock, managing director at Adept Care Homes, said: “After the success of Kiwi House in Derby, we wanted to provide another high-quality care home to the Nottinghamshire community.

“Having worked with Wynbrook on previous projects we have come to trust their expertise and have confidence that the finished build will be completed to the highest standards.”

Steve Day, director of Wynbrook Homes, added: “It’s always great when the topping out stage completes on time as its means the project is progressing to plan.

“Adept Care Homes are a pleasure to work for as they are so committed to incorporating the very best design and interior features to ensure they deliver a first-class environment for residents to live in a manner that is also environmentally efficient.”

Adept Care Homes provide residential and dementia care.

Chetwynd House’s name was chosen because Chetwynd is the name of the soon-to-be-closed army regiment barracks nearby.

The name was chosen following a competition ran by Adept Care Homes, asking its team and the public to come up with a name for the site.

And Chetwynd House was chosen to honour the heritage of the barracks.

The new care home has been designed to ensure residents maintain their independence and each living room will be fitted with a small kitchen.

Gardens have also been landscaped to provide peaceful recreational areas.

The home will have six separate care suites, each with its own lounge, dining facilities and kitchen. 13 residents will be cared for in each suit.
