The incident happened on Queen's Bower Road close to the junction with Bestwood Lodge Drive.

A five-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after being hit by a police car in Bestwood.

The boy was hit just before 1pm on Queen’s Bower Road and the air ambulance was called to the scene, but was later stood down.

The boy was taken to hospital by ambulance but is not thought to have been seriously hurt. The police car was not on a 999 call at the time.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: “At 12.55pm today there was a collision involving a marked police car and a five-year-old boy.

“The police car was not travelling at speed or on the way to an incident so it didn’t have its blue flashing lights on. It was travelling at normal speed.

“The injuries of the child are not believed to be life-threatening or life-altering but he has been taken to Queen’s Medical Centre as a precaution.

“The traffic team will be investigating just as they would any incident like this.”
