A 4-month-old foal who was deliberately set on fire has sadly passed away.
The young foal, named Angus, who was stabled in Pinxton, near Kirkby in Ashfield was left fighting for his life after flammable liquid was thrown on his face and set alight.
The attack happened some time between the evening of Monday, August 17 and the morning of Wednesday, August 19.
The animal was owned by six-year-old Logan Appleby who was on holiday with his family at the time of the attack.
Angus was being looked after by neighbours whilst the family were away.
Police are now appealing for anyone with any information on the incident to call 101 or the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999.
