A football team made up of refugees from all around the world received a visit from Notts County and former England international striker Alan Smith.
The 36-year-old met the refugees who come together to play football having arrived in Britain fleeing their country.
The initiative is put on by Football in the Community.
Sudan refugee Abass Kabir came to Britain with nothing but has found solidarity in playing football.
He said: “I really like playing football here because I’m with other refugees.
“Most of them come from my country – when I came here I really needed my fellow refugees from both Sudan and different countries.
“So playing football and meeting other refugees I hadn’t met before is great.”
Notts striker Alan Smith paid the team a visit and said the initiative can give the players a ‘togetherness’ that will help them in the future.
Alan Smith said: “I think these community initiatives are a massive thing for a club that’s a massive part of this city.
“It’s important we come down and represent the club in the right way and hopefully give these guys something to go away and think about.
“Hopefully they will value our experiences in what we do and for these guys, the interaction that they’ve got through this initiative is really good and will stand them in good stead moving forward creating better people of them.”
