Forest fans celebrate 40 year anniversary of Clough appointment

Nottingham Forest fans celebrated the 40th anniversary of the appointment of legendary manager Brian Clough today, and there was nothing but praise for the two-time European Cup winner.

Clough spent 18 seasons at the European powerhouse throughout the 1970s and 80s winning back to back European Cups in the 1978-79/1979-80 seasons.

Further cups came with wins in the League Cup on three separate occasions. He was also responsible for the first British £1 million footballer when he signed 24-year-old Birmingham City striker Trevor Francis in 1978-79.

However despite all this, the man himself regularly regarded the 42 game undefeated streak between 26 November 1977 and December 9 1978 as his greatest achievement.

The streak was the equivalent of a whole season and beat the previous record of 35 games, standing until a month before his death in 2004.

But what are the favourite moments of the ‘Cloughie’ era for fans? We took to the streets to find out?

The Forest faithful share their best memories of Brian Clough
