A former Hindu temple is to be transformed into 15 flats.
Permission has been recommended to build the one-bedroom flats in Palm Street, New Basford, on the site of a temple which closed in January 2020.
Some nearby residents have expressed concern about potential noise, traffic, and parking during construction.
But council planners have said noise and related issues during construction are not a planning matter.
The highway authority has requested a construction traffic management plan to help ensure problems are minimised.
Nottingham Civic Society has supported the conversion of the nineteenth-century industrial building into flats. It wants to ensure the historic features of the building are safeguarded.
A report to the city’s planning committee says: “The site is in a relatively sustainable location, accessible to the tram network and local amenities on North Gate and in Sherwood Rise.
“The proposal would provide 14 one-bed units and 1 x 1 bed duplex. The location and proposed number of flats are considered to be acceptable, and weight is given to the proposal which would bring a building back into use to the benefit of the vitality of the area.”
A recent Housing Market Assessment has confirmed the need for more housing in the city.
Councillors have been recommended to grant planning consent when they meet on Wednesday, August 18.
