A large warehouse blaze in Lenton sent a plume of smoke drifting over Nottingham and meant some people had to be evacuated from their homes.
Four fire appliances were called to the scene on Faraday Road and crews asked people to avoid the area.
Notts Fire and Rescue Service tweeted to residents: “Please keep all windows and doors closed – thanks for patience.”
Some passersby said they had heard an explosion coming from the area at the time of the blaze, which started at around 12.15pm.
Firefighters had the flames under control by around 1pm and the cause of the blaze is being investigated.
