Free winter safety check for Nottingham car owners

Kwik Fit and Tesco are to team up this month to offer Nottingham car owners free safety checks to ensure their cars are ‘fit’ for winter.

Nottinghamshire County Council has collaborated with the two businesses to ensure cars in the area can cope with the seasonal weather.

Experts from Kwik Fit will be carrying out free winter checks on the vehicles, as well as offering advice about tyre safety and showing drivers how to check their tyre tread.

Councillor Kevin Greaves, chairman of the County Council’s transport and highways committee, urged anyone who has the chance to drop in and take advantage of a tyre safety and winter check.

He said:

Statistics show that there is a peak in casualty rates amongst drivers during the winter months. This can be for all sorts of reasons, but we can all help to improve matters by making sure our vehicles are in peak condition and able to cope.

Councillor Greaves also urged car owners to continue the habit of making regular safety checks on their cars all year round.

Drop-in sessions will be taking place at the Tesco Extra store in Toton on January 23 between 10 am and 4 pm.

Visitors calling in for a safety check will also receive some goodies, including their own tyre tread checker.
