Friends of a Stapleford boy found dead in the River Erewash are organising a run to raise money for a memorial bench.
Tributes and donations have been mounting for Josh Boothman, 13, who was reported to have fallen into the river at around 3.40pm on Saturday (September 24).
Emergency services were called but Josh did not re-surface, and he was recovered from the river by Notts Police divers just after 5.30pm.
Josh’s friends have said that they wanted to raise money for a memorial bench in his honour and will host a run to raise the money for it.
Stapleton North councillor Richard McRae, Stapleford Community Group and Stapleford Town Football Club are helping with the organisation and the running of the event.
The run is due to take place on Sunday (October 2) at 12pm on Bramcote Park.
