The full set of First World War service medals stolen, along with an Irish Emergency Civil Defence medal

A full set of First World War service medals have been stolen in a garage break-in.

The full set, along with an Irish Emergency Civil Defence medal, were taken in the burglary on Castle Boulevard between November 1 2016 and January 3 2017.

The name on the inscription is Sergeant Edward Egan (or similar), Leinster Regiment.

The medals are not believed to have any real financial value but have sentimental meaning to the victim of the burglary.

Police are appealing for information and ask for anyone who has seen the medals or has been offered them to call Notts Police on 101 quoting incident number 216 of January 3 2017.
