Garden saint stolen in Nottinghamshire village

Garden ornaments, including a two feet high statue of St Francis of Assisi, have been stolen from a house in Lowdham.

Nottinghamshire Police say it’s one of three distinctive garden ornaments (pictured above) stolen from the garden of a house just off the Epperstone By-Pass (A6097).

One of the ornaments is a very old, 2ft-tall statue of Saint Francis taken from the rear of the garden, which is overlooked by a public footpath.

The other stolen items are a stone pedestal birdbath and a staddle stone, used to lift buildings off the ground.

Officers believe the ornaments were stolen between 12pm on Wednesday, March 4 and 8.45am on Thursday, March 5.

Anyone with information is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 178 of 5 March 2015.
