The bodies of five dead kittens have been found in a child’s backpack in Bulwell.

The black-and-white kittens were found soaking wet causing RSPCA investigators to believe they were drowned.

They were found by a woman dumped on a walkway behind a house on Lodgewood Close, in Bulwell, on Monday.

The charity has launched an appeal to try and trace whoever is responsible.

RSPCA investigator Kristy Ludlam, said: “The kittens were found just dumped behind a row of houses in a distinctive pink children’s backpack, which had a turquoise zip.

“The River Leen is only a few hundred metres away, so if they were drowned then it is possible that the incident occurred there.”

The RSPCA is appealing to anyone who saw anything around the area or recognises the backpack to contact them on 0300 123 8018.
