Head Coach interview: Nottingham Caesars start season with a win

Nottingham Caesars, American football,

The Nottingham Caesars kicked their season off with a win over the Peterborough Saxons as they begin their championship conquest.

The Caesars won 23 – 12 following a hard fought game over recently promoted Peterborough.

We should have a great season

The defence were particularly impressive conceding only once and causing five turnovers.

Head Coach, Barry Boseley, said: “It was an absolutely fantastic start to what is hopefully  going to be a really great season.

“This is a team effort we have an offence, we have a defence, and a special teams and they  all have to contribute for us to win.  But I must say that the defence did come to the front and make some fantastic plays.”

The Nottingham Caesars finished mid-table last year after winning four games, losing five and drawing one.

However Coach Boseley hopes this season will be the one that they push on and win the division.

The Caesars had over 130 people attend the training session which Coach Boseley said demonstrates the growing interest in the sport.

He said: “We’ve had a great recruitment drive and had a lot of rookies come in and have two good sessions with the Cambridgeshire Cats and the Lincolnshire Bombers to prepare for the season.

“Obviously we’d like to go to the Championship Bowl. I’m not getting any younger and I keep thinking I’d like that ring on my finger.”

The Nottingham Caesars carry on their championship bid against the Ouse Valley Eagles on April 24.
