Historic rally cars to flock to Notts who will host only UK checkpoint of Monte Carlo event

Historic rally cars will flock to Notts who will host the only UK checkpoint of a Monte Carlo rally later this month.

Ye Olde Bell Hotel, in Barnby Moor, Bassetlaw, is home to the UK checkpoint of the 20th Rallye Monte Carlo Historique, an event in which only classic cars which have raced in the rally between 1955 and 1980 can compete.

Ye Olde Bell Hotel and Restaurant first hosted the checkpoint for the rally proper in 1959

Teams of drivers travel from a number of destinations across Europe to Monte Carlo and Ye Olde Bell will host the UK depart.

Drivers will arrive at the hotel and restaurant on Wednesday January 25 from 10pm onwards before the departure at 10am the following day.

The historic rally starts on Thursday January 26 and lasts until Wednesday February 1.

General manager at the hotel Kate Firth said: “The cars and drivers provide quite a show stopping spectacle.

“The history of the event, the cars and the drivers’ passion is fascinating and inspiring too.

“We have been lucky enough to be a regular checkpoint for the rallies and it’s something all the staff, guests and a great following of spectators always look forward to.”
