Ian Coates’ sons say change must follow Nottingham attacks inquiry
Families of Ian Coates, Barnaby Webber and Grace O’Malley Kumar, who were killed by Valdo Calocane in June 2023, attended a meeting with the Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street yesterday (12th February). Wayne Birkett, survivor of the attack, was also present.
During the meeting, Sir Keir confirmed that a public inquiry will be held to uncover faults and failings in the authorities’ care and contact with Calocane, who was suffering from paranoid schizophrenia and had been detained under the mental health act a number of times before the deaths.
Notts TV spoke to two of Ian Coates’ sons, James and Lee, outside Downing Street after the meeting.
