A campaign help give Nottinghamshire women the confidence to get active has launched its new website in time for International Women’s Day.
Nottingham Girls Can is part of the national campaign This Girl Can by Sports England that is calling for more women to get into sport and celebrate active women all over the country.
The launch has come at the same time as International Women’s Day which takes place today.
International Women’s Day is a global day to celebrate the achievements of women throughout history and to raise awareness of the issues faced by women today.
The website has been launched to provide information about activities and events going on in Nottingham and how to get involved in the national campaign.
Nottinghamshire has had its fair share of sporty women such as Olympic gold medallist swimmer Rebecca Aldington from Mansfield (pictured above).
Denise Richards, project leader at Sports Nottinghamshire shared her excitement at the launch of the new site.
We hope the campaign will encourage females, no matter what their demographic, to love sport and benefit from an active lifestyle.
“The brand new website will provide regular updates and will hopefully inspire females across Nottinghamshire to attend activities and events taking place in their local area as well as meeting new people.”
Nottinghamshire women are being invited to get involved via social media with the hashtag #NottinghamGirlsCan
