Nottingham Forest Supporters’ Trust is planning to start taking on official members after it was given official registration.

After working closely with trust development grouo Supporters Direct, the Forest Trust has now been approved by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

The trust was launched in April when more than 100 supporters met at the Albert Hall to hear a panel of speakers explain its aims.

The public meeting was organised by Forest fans Richard Antcliff and Thomas Newton who created a Go Fund Me page to raise enough money to put on the event.

Mr Antcliff, interim chairman of the group, said: “It has been a long time coming in terms of getting the paperwork in order and getting it past the FCA.

“We’ve worked well with Supporters Direct and hopefully now we are official we can start to get the membership scheme launched and get supporters signed up.”

The official membership scheme is set to be announced soon, he added.

The Trust’s board is currently interim with democratic elections to take place towards the end of the season for more permanent positions.

Mr Antcliff is hoping people will put themselves forward for roles such as chairperson, secretary and treasurer.

He said: “Our aims absolutely stay the same.

“Our primary aim is safeguarding the future of the football club, trying to influence decision making and being a critical friend to the club.

“But we are also interested over time in building the membership base and looking towards gaining some equity at some point.”

Talks have already taken place between the club and the Trust.
