Notts County boss Stuart Maynard says the club’s ‘incredible’ away support – including a massive 3,300 fans travelling to Doncaster this Saturday – is proving key to the Magpies’ improved away form.

County travel to the Eco-Power Stadium tomorrow (KO 3pm) having sold out their away end allocation a week ago.

The club rank second in terms of average away fan following so far this season, with an average of 1,437, second only to Bradford City’s average of 1,726.

Doncaster and County both go into the game on 26 points – each in 14 games played. County sit third in the table, above Rovers in fourth, only by goal difference.

The Magpies will look to continue on their impressive away form, having not yet lost a game away from home in the league.

Head Coach Stuart Maynard says the travelling fans are partly responsible for this.

On the 3,344 away tickets sold for Saturday, he added: “It’s incredible, for us it will feel like a home game because of how loud they have been away from this season from minute one.

“Once they get in the ground they sing all the way through and got behind the lads and drive them on, it plays a huge part in why our away form is so good as well.”

On the competitiveness and importance of the fixture, Maynard added: “From the start of the season these are the games you want to be involved in.

“Doncaster at the back end of the last season had a great finish, they nearly got over the line in the playoffs.

“It’s going to be a really tough test but one that we are looking forward to.”

New signing Matty Platt, a defender on an impressive goal scoring run, said: “It’s incredible support and in my time, the fans have been great.

“3,000 away is incredible especially in league two, 3,000 in support (away from home) would be great at any level of the football pyramid.”

“We are going to try and put on a good performance for the travelling fans.”
