A man and a woman from Nottingham have been jailed for a combined total of ten years for dealing heroin and crack cocaine.

Devon Mckenzie, 55, and Rosalyn McCue-Smith, 45, both of Gordon Road, St Ann’s, were caught after police spotted someone leaving their home after appearing to make a suspicious exchange with Mckenzie.

Officers stopped the man in his car and discovered he had heroin and crack cocaine on him, as well as paraphernalia to take both.

Police then searched the house and found stashes of both drugs and lists of people who owed money.

Also uncovered were scales with traces of class A drugs on them, cutting agents and mobile phones. On the phones were text messages that linked both Mckenzie and McCue-Smith to drug deals.

The pair were sentenced at Nottingham Crown court on Friday (March 10) after both pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

Mckenzie was given six years in prison and McCue-Smith four years.

PC Tom Andrews, who led the investigation, said: “Class A drug dealers ruin lives and addiction to heroin and crack cocaine fuels all manner of other crimes from shoplifting to robberies and burglaries.

“The user we detained initially drove having taken drugs he had just purchased which could have been incredibly dangerous.

“These sentences show that drug supply will not be tolerated in Nottingham. We use various tactics to tackle drug crime across the county and those involved should be aware that we continue to investigate and take these matters very seriously.”
