Jamie Leek: Notts family seek justice for tragic death of son

Jamie Leek was hit by a motorbike while on holiday in Greece and last week his parents returned for the first time since Jamie’s death.

Lydia and Chris Leek went to give evidence at a court hearing which saw judges decide motorbike rider Spiridon Koklas was 100 per cent at fault for the collision and sentenced to three years in prison.

However Koklas is appealing this verdict by apportioning some of the blame to Mr Lee.

Mr Leek commented: “He said through our translator that he wanted to say sorry in person but then later we found out that he’s appealing the sentence by re-proportioning the blame – how can you be truly sorry if you’ve done that?

“It’s a horrible feeling – part of you just wants to go up and throttle him but you have to make sure everything is done through the system and done properly – you didn’t want to speak to him or stare at him too much in court though”

The accident happened in June 2012 when the family were on holiday on the Greek island of Zante and had popped out to get some supplies from a local shop.

The motorbike hit Chris and Jamie, killing the boy on his ninth birthday.
